Individual resolve

I've heard the saying that Life is a journey. Nothing could be more true in regards to writing. From coming up with material, to getting published, getting marketed, famous, and so on. It's a long road indeed. What I think separates those who achieve anything from those who do not doesn't completely rely on ability alone. I have seen plenty of talented people quit. It is the resolve of the individual that is most important. The ability to handle the endless frustrations that come from the complex game of life. For instance, if you find yourself unable to handle the terrible fact that when you start out as a writer you're going to have more than a few naysayers, you might not be able to handle the other problems that come your way. I feel it is the way you handle that problem in particular that determines the rest of your writing journey.
